PULAV

heya guys..... I hope all are doing well :)
So here I am with a new recipe in my blog but a very old recipe with a very common ingredient RICE.
Before starting with this I want to know the difference between BIRYANI and PULAV..
According to me Biryani is basically for the rice with mutton and the rest were changes which they made in dat lik chicken biryani or mushroom biryani etc etc..
Pulav is a vegetarian dish and i think there are various ways of making it.One of the way might be called as Vegetable Biryani.
So this is a dish with rice and do let me know once you taste it if its a biryani or pulav...till then its just a RICE :)

INGREDIENTS:

  • Basmati Rice                                                                      2 glasses
  • Onions                                                                               4 (sliced thin)
  • Tomatoes                                                                           3(chopped)
  • Cardamom/Elaichi                                                              4 pieces
  • Laung                                                                                 4 pieces
  • Bay leaf                                                                              1 full
  • Ginger Garlic paste                                                             1/2 a tsp
  • Vegetables(carrot(1),beans(5),potato(1),cauliflower(1/2))   finely chopped
  • mint and coriander(grind lik paste)                                      1 cup
  • curd                                                                                   2 Tbsp
  • turmeric powder                                                                 1/2 a tsp
  • Red chilly powder                                                               take acc to your taste
  • coriander powder                                                               1/2 tsp
  • jeera powder                                                                      1/2 tsp
  • Salt                                                                                     to taste
METHOD:

  1. In a cooker heat 3 tbsp oil ( approx) and add the ginger garlic paste.
  2. Once the seem to mix with the oil add cardamom, laung and the bay leaf.
  3. Once you smell something good ;) :P add the turmeric powder and the onions and cook till golden brown.
  4. Once the onions are done add the tomatoes and red chilli powder, coriander powder and jeera powder.
  5. Once the tomatoes secrete oil from the sides add the other vegetables and the mint-coriander paste and the curd and cook with the lid closed for about 5 minutes.
  6. Now add the rice(keep it soaked in water for about 20 minutes) and mix well and add the salt.
  7. Add water almost 4 cups and close the lid with the weight
  8. Cook for one whistle and serve hot with raita or papad.
