MILK KESARI/ SHEERA

Hi Folks,
How are you all? How many of you feel you have already gained weight-thanks to festivals :p
I so much feel that way. But isn't that what festivals are all about- good food all the time ;)
I feel good the way i am getting response for my posts through mail and Instagram and i hope you would continue to support me more and more.
So, talking about today's recipe MILK SHEERA or Kesari.. It is no new name in any Indian house especially during navaratri. Since my extended family is a strong believer of Shirdi Sai Baba, we make sheera almost every Thursday. And me as good kid was the one waiting for thursday for sheera and roti/poori. After shifting to the US i tried making sheera for the first time and it was not a flop show but it was not a huge success. But i kept on making it every Thursday and now i feel i have totally got a hang of it and can make it anytime without measurements.
Since both of us love sheera i make it more and with less ghee because we indulge into it alot.
But the fact is more ghee more tasty.
Lets get started.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Sooji/Rawa/ Semolina        - 1 cup
  • Sugar                                   - 1 cup (change as per your preference)
  • Milk                                     - 1/2 cup
  • Water                                   - 1/2 cup
  • Ghee                                    - 3 Tbsp + 1 Tbsp
PROCEDURE
  1. Add ghee to a pan and roast the sooji well until you get aroma.
  2. Once you feel the sooji is roasted well add the sugar and mix thoroughly.
  3. Add the milk-water mixture and mix well without lumps.
  4. Add more ghee in the end to get a good glaze.

NOTE:
  • Sugar can be added immediately after you add milk as well but just to avoid any lumps I add it before itself.
  • Adjust the milk water amount according to the requirement.
  • Add dry fruits of your choice and cardamom powder if you like it.

It is always a pleasure to hear from you guys. Do leave back comment/ feedback as a piece of motivation. Do try it and let me know how did you like it. Share your recipes of desserts which you love to make during festivals.

Bye!!
