BAKED NAMAK PARE

Hi folks,
Hope you all had a good time with your family and friends on Diwali. But the celebration does not stop here. Does it? we have Bhai duj coming up. All the brother sister jodis must be excited for it.
So what do we have in today's recipe is the most commonly made Diwali snack which is super easy but with a small twist. Namak pare or nimki is made with maida/all purpose flour but here i have used a mix of both wheat flour and all purpose flour and instead of frying it i have baked them giving a healthy twist to it.
              Lets get started.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Maida/All purpose flour              - 1/2 cup
  • Wheat flour/atta                           - 1/2 cup
  • Ajwain                                         - 1 tsp
  • Salt                                               - To taste
  • Red chilli powder                         - 1/2 tsp (optional)
  • Water                                             - as required for a stiff and smooth dough
PROCEDURE:
  1. In a bowl add all the ingredients except water.
  2. Add water gradually and knead the dough stiff and smooth and keep the dough for 30 minutes.
  3. Make the dough into two portions.
  4. Roll one dough to 1/2 inch thickness and cut it into diamond shape.
  5. Pre-heat the oven to 395F/200C.
  6. Place the pare on a greased baking tray and bake it for 10-12 minutes.
  7. Repeat the same for other portion.

NOTE:

  • Traditionally it can be fried as well.
  • Can be served with hot tea.

It is always a pleasure to hear from you guys. Do leave back comment/ feedback as a piece of motivation. Do try it and let me know how did you like it. Share your recipes of snacks which you love to make during festivals.
